OPENING DOORS TO FOOD ACCESS

As we near the two-year mark at Grocery on Broad, we’re reflecting on the impact we’ve made together. This space has become a place people rely on to put food on their families’ tables.

Over the past year, more families have walked through our doors, making fresh, healthy food more accessible. A total of 1,107 families registered for the programrepresenting 2,430 individuals when accounting for household size— showing the growing need for affordable, accessible food in our community. Through our Fair Pricing Model and ongoing support, we’re helping reduce barriers and ensure families can bring home what they need.

The Grocery supported this work through $170,246 program-related discounts, while $67,950 in SNAP purchases were received as revenue, bringing critical resources into the store and supporting the community we serve.

What makes The Grocery different is how it grows.

Through our Community Advisory Committee, neighbors help shape how the store operates, from product selection to new ideas, and overall shopping experience. Their input continues to guide decisions and keep the store rooted in the community.

At the same time, The Grocery is a place of learning and opportunity. As part of our Culinary and Hospitality Job Training Program, trainees gain hands-on experience in customer service, retail operations, and day-to-day store management, building skills that prepare them for employment.

What started as a new resource has become a trusted part of the community.

That’s what opening doors looks like at The Grocery on Broad.

And with the support of this community and those who believe in our mission, those doors remain open, creating access, strengthening connections, and continuing to grow every day.

We’re proud of what we’ve built together, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
