Thank you to all who joined us at our Farm to Forge Virtual Fundraiser. There is nothing more powerful than breaking bread together (even virtually!). Forge City Works programs continue to have a positive impact within our community in what has been without a doubt our most challenging year.
In the spring we made the very difficult decision to close our library café and sadly we lost our founder and executive director, Cary Wheaton. Despite these challenges, The Kitchen continues to be creative and pivot to new revenue streams on a daily basis; our farmers market continues to be a source of fresh and local produce for the community.
Our socially polite catering and Fill Your Fridge program provides opportunities for our trainees to practice their skills in a working kitchen environment. And next year, we hope to train upwards of 24 people in both culinary and customer service skills with our newly created curriculum that provides a trainee an opportunity to choose a specialization.
As you will hear directly from our trainees, the impact is meaningful and long-lasting. Please enjoy the short video shared during our virtual program, knowing we are committed to looking forward, while honoring the past.
